Building Structure

Build it Strong

What foundation are you building upon–rock or shifting sand?

When it comes to your Network Marketing Business what is shifting sand? An organization that is not on a solid foundation as it grows.

Network Marketing companies are made up of two parts in their compensation or discount structure. The majority of your downline (team) will be made up of product users (product discount structure). Actually, these are the most important members of your team in the long run. They don’t attend meetings or impending events but they do use the products because the products are high quality products. Never join a company that doesn’t have quality products! Remember that you get a check based on selling products.

Those in your organization that take the products and are also business builders will be few. Most likely it will take them a long time to develop and build their business. These people too are very important but don’t stake your business on any one person. Some people in the business do get lucky and find a dynamic leader building their upline leaders (you) a large check but these are the exceptions and not the rule. Don’t get in the way of a dynamic leader because they may be better at this than you are. Just because you bring them into the business doesn’t mean you have more in skill or results. Don’t get in their way, if this is the case, because your ego can kill a tremendous check.

However, if you are willing to spend the time, effort, etc. there is no reason you can’t build a Network Marketing business even if you aren’t lucky, etc. While we don’t recommend that you build your business slow (people often quote the speed of the leader is the speed of the pack) there are some serious advantages to building your business on rock (product users).

There are ways to take shortcuts or game any compensation system for a period of time. For example, some people actually “buy” other people into the business. They not only buy them into the business but they also do the business for them. If you build a business in that fashion, and reach a high level, how is it going to feel on your way down? It always feels better to be moving steadily forward with a strong organization than come crashing down like a house of cards.

If you want to run yourself ragged, and build significant stress in your life, then begin to use gimmicks and build on sand. If you want to run yourself ragged in the business put all your focus on the “art of promotion.” Of course, that means promoting yourself primarily. Remember that your downline likes to be recognized and promoted too.

If you get caught up in buying people, buying recognition, and buying trips you are letting your “ego” run you into the ground in the long run and it won’t be fun. Keep your ego in check and you will be very happy in your business. This can be a very fun business for many people. Some of us love our business culture and that’s very important for a happy life.

Face the fact that you are only a legend in your own mind!
