Fear

Where’s Goliath?

Goliath is in your mind because you fear what you don’t know. Goliath could be death because you fear what’s on the other side of life.  Goliath is whatever you fear.

When we look at David we see a boy. We don’t see a man of war that’s nine feet tall. We don’t see armor on David while the giant has on his war clothes, the weapons to go with it, and a history of success in battle.

The giant has spent his time taunting his enemies.  He has a huge ego fueled by his past successes and his massive size.  That’s his downfall.  He’s insulted at the appearance of David and underestimates his enemy.

What does David have?  What we all need:  “Faith.” Faith can overcome fear and our enemies.  He didn’t take weapons into battle that he didn’t know how to use.  He takes a slingshot and he definitely knew how to use it.  He used it often when he was with his sheep protecting them from the wild beasts.

Read the story and you will definitely see yourself up against life.

We too can overcome fear when we become proficient at what we know and comfortable with who we are.  Above all, David knew that Goliath was insulting his God.
