Do you need to go to a “concentration camp” to learn how to focus?
Most seminars and schools offer several days of concentration on whatever. Unfortunately, many people are just in attendance and not getting maximum benefit. The minute the event is over they are too. Also, they will remember very little of what they heard at the event.
It’s like going to a fitness center for several weeks and losing focus (dropping out). I go everyday and exercise (for years) because only an habitual routine accomplishes for me what I want to accomplish. Mentally, I don’t dread going but look forward to that part of my day.
When I took courses to pass the CPA exam I looked forward to the courses and the material I was learning–passing the exam was secondary. I guess that’s why I passed on my first attempt (only 4% nationally pass all parts of the CPA exam that year). As I was leaving the exam room I heard one person say: “Boy, I hope I passed because I don’t think I’ll do that again.” I was thinking: “Wow, are you wasting time considering the statistical failure rate.” My goal was to learn the material not pass the test!
If you don’t have your heart in it don’t do it. If you aren’t committed to the long-term goal don’t do it. Success in life is spelled: commitment!
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matt. 6:21 Or, reversing that thought: Where your heart is you will find your treasure.
