What’s your definition of wasting time?
Would it be the time spent by Thomas Edison? Starbucks CEO (Howard Schultz) talks about this in his book–the fact that several in his family thought he was wasting his time and should get a real job. Considering the names I just mentioned, perhaps jobs are for losers and the lower economic class?
People don’t know your personal circumstances. They don’t know your family wealth, investments, etc. They may just assume you are a “loser.” That’s their problem. I was once listening to the President of a company say something like: “If you get to be in your fifties and nothing is going for you something is wrong.” In other words, something is wrong with you! This same person was fired within a (3) year period and obviously left on very bad terms. Was something wrong with him? Ask any President and CEO about the average life span of an executive (2-3 years) depending upon the industry. Is something wrong with these people?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): “Baby boomers held an average of 11 jobs from ages 18 to 44. (In this report, a job is defined as an uninterrupted period of work with a particular employer.) On average, men held 11.4 jobs and women held 10.7 jobs. Was there something wrong with these people? When we make unqualified blanket statements (as we notice continually in the news) we show an extreme lack of logical thought.
Some people do very well just wasting time.
