What is duplication?
Duplication is a part of the Network Marketing business model to focus business builders on building their organization (downline).
Initially, duplication is what we are doing when we first join a Network Marketing company. As a business builder, we are learning the products that move fast and we are learning the people who are successful in the business and why they are successful. This includes their professional backgrounds because we are looking for trends in the business. We have two main divisions:
- Products and Services
- Business Opportunity
However, these are not distinct divisions because most so-called Distributors are product users buying the products at a discount. This is why it is so important to join a company with great products for long-term business success. Most of the people in your organization will be product users and not business builders. Occasionally the Distributor will sell products or sign up someone as part of their organization. They will probably sell the products they actually use themselves (product duplication). A Distributor may actually know more about the products than a business builder (someone who focuses on the business).
There is a target market for the products and there is a target market for the serious business builder. We stay plugged into the organization to know the serious business builders and learn from them the target market and how to approach the target market.
Generally, the most effective tools provided by Distributors and the Company are the simple tools (business duplication). Initially, we present print and electronic media to inform product users and business builders about the company. However, the most effective tool is getting business builders to events where they can experience the company, people, and culture. If your company has powerful events, to build momentum, then you will have a powerful organization.
Here’s a good place to focus on the culture and talk about Social Norms. A big part of success will center around people issues. Bad attitudes and big egos will kill your business momentum faster than anything. I can’t even begin to list all of the heavy hitters that have eventually failed because of their big ego with a focus on self instead of the success of their organization.
Professional psychologist will tell you that the number one priority (Social Norm) is being “liked.”
We can’t even begin to talk about the power of being around people who “like us.” People we like, and feel comfortable with, is more valuable than gold. This is the cultural aspect of Network Marketing. If you begin to violate this principle by separating your group from the main culture (because of your big ego) you are making a big mistake.
Number One: People like to be liked. Lift people up!
