Being Polite

Being polite to others is a very broad subject and in fact has to do with the subjects and ways we communicate.

Some things we just feel and other things we feel strongly about.  That’s where we need to be careful in Network Marketing–the things we feel strongly about.  There is a time and place for everything and I would certainly be the last person, as you can tell from reading my blog, to tell you to keep quiet and shut-up about they various ways you feel and think.  There are always times when we just have to take a stand on what we believe even if it is an ineffective stand.  However, these times are very infrequent in our business.

Therefore, the polite thing to be is transparent and let people know the truth about an event.  For example, if religion or politics is a part of the theme then people need to know that upfront and be comfortable with it.  When I joined a Network Marketing company I joined for one reason initially.  I believe in the products!

Just like you, I don’t want religious or political views shoved down my throat just because I think we have a great company and product.  Like almost all Distributors who join a company these things were never a part of the initial offering.  And so, why would we lose people or customers over our religious and political views?

Many of the articles I present in my blog have to do with approaching people in the right fashion (their feelings) because I feel it is very important to our business. This is knowledge based and has nothing to do with my professional self (If I am any good at what I preach).  Also, I fully realize that my opinions can be wrong.  We learn at a young age that we are not always, and sometimes not often, right.  Refining our thoughts and ideas is a long process or work in progress.

At a business meeting you may have a feeling in your heart you want to express.  It’s OK to have these feelings.  Unfortunately for you, I may think that your feelings are total BS and I didn’t come to listen to these feelings you have because “I don’t believe a word of it!” Why detract from the products or opportunity?

Be respectful of the time and stay on message!
