Controversy As Entertainment

Many look at controversy as entertainment, promotion, and a bigger paycheck.

You may look at Bill O’Reilly’s blowup on the View with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar as a shouting match over a big controversy (the mosque near Ground Zero).

What you witnessed is “the art of promotion.”

The so-called controversy has promoted two shows by bringing an audience to a dog and cat fight.  It makes me think of the fight promotion skills of Muhammad Ali before a fight.

The objective was to draw a bigger paycheck for shows, books, etc.  Did you really expect Bill to show up on the View without some kind of controversy?  He’s an entertainer and if he wasn’t drawing a crowd he wouldn’t be on the air.

People love controversy and it is big business!
