News Isn’t Fun Any Longer

How do we eliminate the 24/7 news from our daily diet?  We watch!

If you are like me it happened over a period of time.  It just isn’t fun anymore!

Over a period of time I’ve sampled most of the news (even the fake news on the Comedy Channel).  While most of us admitted to ourselves long ago that news is pure entertainment and no longer news and that’s why the comedy news channel worked so well but I’ve now added this to my boring list too.  Admittedly, we watched because some entertainment is interesting and perhaps we could even hear some “real news” sandwiched in occasionally–something we need to know.  I have all these channels that give a steady diet of idiot food (including C-SPAN).

And then it happened:  I watched too much. I actually started to think about my news diet.  It started with pundits I use to watch and they became so boring and sickening I just couldn’t watch any longer:  “I could complete their sentences and next thought.”

And then it became so boring that they started creating their own news:  “The Media Wars.” How big of an idiot can the competing channel pundit be?  Perhaps we should organize an event on the Capital Mall?  Or, perhaps we need to get someone fired on a competing station or someone in government?  I couldn’t even come up with a “B” rating for what I was hearing.  Why would I spend time watching “D” rated entertainment?

Do you have the time to listen to people that don’t know even 1/2 of what you know about a subject?

Perhaps it was the steady diet of terror? We are no longer terror virgins and it has been many years since we were.  Not that many of us don’t believe there will be other attacks we are just no longer certain who the attackers will be.  That’s probably because of the Internet diet of alternative news and minimal critical thinking skills.

Finally it was so fake and disgusting it became like puke and made my stomach turn.  I can hardly watch!  I turn it on for a few seconds to see If I’ve missed something and then quickly turn it off before it makes me puke.

And so, I was weaned from the mainstream media news.  I’ve been online most of the time and even listened to talk radio (my technological advancement seems to be going backwards).  I’ll listen to anyone that appears to have a brain and news that’s less predictable.

Did this happen to you too?
