Selling Ground Zero

How would someone sell Ground Zero?

The other day I got a comment on my blog regarding my Ground Zero picture and post which said something like: “You must be an idiot to be using ground zero to sell your products.”

Admittedly, I hadn’t thought much about that aspect of the picture because it was just a great trip picture and I incorporated it into my blog theme.  I had never thought about it being insensitive to the families of 911 or others so I must be an idiot as suggested.  This picture has been the number one Ground Zero picture on Google Images for a long time with thousands of hits and (strangely) no previous negative comments.

However, the negative comment forced me to consider the subject of this blog post:  How would someone sell Ground Zero…?

Ground Zero is a top seller!

Everyday tours to NYC include Ground Zero.  In fact, many would wonder why a tourist didn’t visit Ground Zero  if on a tour of the city.  I suspect a lot of locals make big bucks from selling Ground Zero.

Currently, Ground Zero is selling religious hatred due to the mosque controversy and selling the war in Afghanistan. Ground Zero is the focal point (not Afghanistan or the 19 Arabs* conspiring to defeat America).  Who in America even remembers or cares about the “shock and awe” in the country of Iraq?

In the past, it has sold several wars including the ongoing war on terror.  It has sold a lot of legislation taking our freedoms and continues to do so.  Practically everyday there is some new (significant) selling Ground Zero theme.

I recall one Presidential Candidate running for President of the U.S.  using Ground Zero as his main speech (Ground Zero in every other sentence).  Who might that be?

I greatly suspect (haven’t studied) that Ground Zero will have a museum, gift shops, etc.  Ground Zero  just goes on selling, and selling, and selling.

And so, how many ways are there to sell Ground Zero?

On the other hand, many people have just enjoyed the picture.

*Rambo was really glad it wasn’t (20).  Of course, a small revision of folklore would be very believable for many.  Where’s the press when you really need them?

One Response to Selling Ground Zero

  1. I just visited Ground Zero. Everybody and their grandma was selling Ground Zero and using Ground Zero to sell other products. I’m starting to sound like a politician. I guess they are all idiots.
